Leg 6 - South Carolina

 4/19/24

105 Miles

Beaufort, the jewel of the Lowcountry. Some describe it as the younger sibling of Charleston, SC because of its shared rich antebellum history and 19th century architecture. This small community has a lot to offer. We love the restaurant scene and lively historic downtown. We have been lucky to have visited Beaufort many times and each time we learn something new. This visit we took a historic "golf cart" tour. Our guide Allan was as well versed in the local history and the locations of the many movies filmed in town including The Big Chill, Forrest Gump and The Prince of Tides to name a few. Beaufort is the type of town you stroll at a slow pace, taking it all in.

Charleston

We love Charleston and who doesn't! We arrived on a gorgeous, HOT Saturday. The harbor was a buzz with activity. Between the gorgeous weekend weather and Charleston Race Week in full swing, it was a very busy harbor! We stayed at two different marinas while in town, one night at The Harborage at Ashley Marina and one night next door at Safe Harbor Bristol. Both excellent marinas and locations. Our favorite things to do in Charleston are soak in the history, walk through the beautiful neighborhoods and try as many restaurants as possible.

Safe Harbor Bristol had a large Sabre fleet, COAST was happy to be with her peeps.

Maison, our very favorite restaurant is a French bistro serving the most incredible classic French fare with a fresh twist.

Maison well stocked bar with every French liquor you can imagine.

Its fun to sit at the bar, the bar team are passionate about cocktails, making them with such care it is a show all in itself.

Crispy flounder with asparagus and English peas in a curry broth.

A major waterfront renovation is about to begin, the developer salvaged what is left of one of the original "gates" to the city. They plan to use this as the entry to the new seaport.

With its long and rich history, Charleston has many architecture styles to showcase.

The miracle mile of King Street - shops galore.

Classic lowcountry home design

Charming waterfront homes

Darling Oyster Bar, our favorite on King Street

If you are in the south, high chance you will have a chicken sandwich or two

Safe Harbor Bristol's dock guards!

Goodnight Charleston
